recliner

today my roomates and i took a little jaunt to a nearby town to check out what'sn rumoured to be one of the biggest and therefore most breathtaking (because big=breathtaking) Buddah statues in Japan. And indeed, it more that lived up to our expections.
check it!

as we approached the Buddah proper, we came upon a little oasis in the woods....a series of little statues placed in rows around various shrines and larger statues. gorgeous.

check out the buddah himself. as my friend noted, he's something of a lazy bastard. is that blasphemous?

sloppy seconds

i've been here in good ol' japanland for almost 7 months now and while i haven't been taking advantage of nearly as many photo ops as i did in my frosher days, i've still got a stack of fotos that haven't yet seen the light of day. so now i shall unleash them on you, my patient, intrigued (and by the looks of it largely nonexistent)readers. ready? rub those palms together, grab some popcorn, or do whatever you normally do to prepare for momentous events.

our neighbours hate foreigners so they knocked down the wall separating our balconies. look:

haha. gotcha! the wall was actually blown out by the typhoon that hit on sunday. they called her "sham sham." it was almost as scary as its name betrays. almost.
